ABout the foundation

The Camp Catanese Foundation is the parent organization of Camp Catanese.

The Camp Catanese Foundation also provides programming dedicated to helping under-served students apply to and attend college; provides scholarships to students for secondary and undergraduate education, and provides funding for other educational programs and experiences. 
 
The Camp Catanese Foundation is an Arizona nonprofit corporation and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions to the Camp Catanese Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Mission statement

The mission of the Camp Catanese Foundation is to prepare future students for college and career opportunities through STEAM, team-building, and social experiences.

To accomplish this we will seek to bring young people to:
  •    An awareness of the college application process and degree plans
  •    Visualize themselves as college students through living on a college campus
  •    Create a plan to apply, attend, and graduate from college
  •    A greater awareness of social responsibility and kindness
  •    Practice good sportsmanship
  •    Grow in personal relationships and personal responsibility
  •    Love one another
In addition, the Camp Catanese Foundation provides scholarships for college, secondary education, summer camp, and field trips to deserving underprivileged students.

jason catanese, chairman & Executive director

Jason S. Catanese is the Chairman and Executive Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation.  He is also the Camp Director of Camp Catanese and is a former national teacher of the year for Teach For America.
 
Jason is an algebra and geometry teacher in Phoenix, Arizona.  He is passionate about helping all students receive college degrees, especially his former students.  He holds an M.Ed. from Arizona State University and a B.A. from Northwestern University.

Anees Mokhiber

vice chairman & director

Anees Mokhiber is the Vice Chairman and a co-founder of the Camp Catanese Foundation. He is also a Camp Director of Camp Catanese.

Anees owns a media company, Your Peeps Media, that operates in the Northern Virginia area. Anees is also a licensed attorney. He has worked with several summer camps in varying capacities for the last eight years. He is passionate about education and working with young adults. He holds a J.D. and a B.A. from George Mason University.

Nathan catanese

​Nathan S. Catanese is the Secretary and a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation. 
 
Nathan is a tax, wills, trusts, and estates attorney in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  He previously worked in the United States House of Representatives and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.  He is also a former summer camp counselor.  He holds a J.D. and B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.

Sam Catanese

Samuel J. Catanese, CPA is the Treasurer of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation.
 
Sam holds the position of Leading Partner of Catanese Group, a Certified Public Accounting and business advisory firm located in western Pennsylvania. He is an expert in the management, administration, and strategic planning of professional service industries as well as not-for-profit organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Shippensburg University, and is an OPM 28 Graduate of Harvard Business School.  

WAYNE parr

director

Wayne A. Parr Jr. is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation.

Wayne is a project manager specializing in legal technologies and eDiscovery in the Washington D.C. area. He has formerly worked in camp administration and as a camp counselor. He currently is involved with a young adult ministry at his church on the local and national levels. He holds a B.S. from Tennessee Technological University and a current P.M.P. certification from the Project Management Institute.

MUSA farmand

Musa is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation.
 
Musa is a real estate attorney and is currently an associate for DLA Piper LLP in Washington, D.C. He is a Teach For America alumnus.  He previously interned for the Afterschool Alliance in Washington, D.C., where he lobbied for afterschool programs on Capitol Hill.  He holds a J.D. and B.S. from the University of Florida.   Go Gators! 

Michael alperin

director

Michael Alperin is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation.
 
Michael is an Acquisitions Director at Beacon Communities, an affordable housing development firm, and was formerly a teacher through Teach For America at Uncommon Schools in New York City.  Michael is passionate about providing all children with the tools and opportunities to fulfill their dreams. He holds an M.B.A. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an M.P.P. from Harvard University, an M.A.T. from Relay Graduate School of Education, and a B.S. from Northwestern University.

erika David PARR

Erika David Parr, PhD is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation.  She also serves as a Camp Director of Camp Catanese.
 
Erika is a current Visiting Assistant Professor at Rhodes College teaching Calculus courses. Her research focuses on visual reasoning in undergraduate mathematics courses and improving mathematics instruction. Previously, she has taught high school and university mathematics and worked as a camp counselor and camp administrator. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Dallas an, M.A. in Mathematics and a PhD in Mathematics Education from Arizona State University.

Nick Sleem

Nicholas M. Sleem, CPA is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation.
 
Nicholas is a public accountant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma practicing audit/assurance. He has prior experience with taxation at Wedel, Rahill & Associates and was also a camp counselor at Camp Catanese. Nicholas received his B.A. at the University of Oklahoma and his Masters of Science – Accounting at Oklahoma City University.

​Cory N. Glass is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation and is a co-founder of the Foundation.
​
Cory is currently the Director of Data Science for Phillips 66 in Houston, Texas.  He has also worked in the Office of the Chief Economist, managed risk, scheduled crude oil, and conducted market analysis for Phillips 66/ConocoPhillips.  Additionally, Cory has experience working as a consultant for a boutique management consulting firm.  He holds a B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College as well as a B.S. and MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.

Hillary hoffer

Hillary Hoffer is a Director of the Camp Catanese Foundation. 
 
Hillary is the Director of Development for New Orleans College Prep where she manages all fundraising initiatives for the charter network. Previously, she worked in community engagement and development at Teach For America - Phoenix.   Hillary started her career as a Teach For America Phoenix corps member, teaching 7th grade math in South Phoenix. She is deeply committed to advancing the lifelong success for low-income students by ensuring all students have opportunities to succeed.  She holds an M.Ed. from Arizona State University and a B.A. in Economics from The College of William & Mary.
